Article #7:Fetish Fest Music and Art FestivalWednesday, June 13, 2007: This year, Fetish Fest had a slight name overhaul, as now we refer to it as the "Fetish Fest Music and Arts Festival". Yes, that's right...you've read it correctly..."Music and Arts Festival". This year John (in conjunction with the soon to open Six on the Square...a new music venue located in Oxford) has taken it upon himself to invite fine artists, photographers, and craftsmen from the surrounding area to come and exhibit their efforts at Fetish Fest. We've always talked about doing something along these lines, but have never quite fully committed to the idea. Once the warm weather arrives, our playing schedule for the summer begins to ramp-up, and leaves us very little time to fully prepare for one of our favorite weekends of the year. The idea always seems to be tossed around, but never fully acted on in time to make it work with the fest. But the idea of art at Fetish Fest is no longer on the back burner. This year John had the presence of mind to get a jump on this addition, and you will probably be seeing some new faces around the farm, as well as new ways to enjoy a relaxing weekend in our rolling Guilford hills. Last year marked the first year that we actually employed the barn as more than a simple backdrop for the festivities. The addition of an "in the barn stage", and the use of the barn's loft brought the festival to new heights of rustic ambiance and musical sensibility. I don't believe there was a person in attendance that wouldn't agree that last year's "Friday in the barn" was the best Friday of Fetish Fest to date. Friday is rapidly becoming the "can't miss" evening of the fest. This year holds plans to once again improve the interior of the barn with additional cleaning and additional space being created to better serve the weekend's events. Hopefully, July 13th will see the full use of the barn's loft, with new space also being created on the main floor back to Uncle Dick's workshop. |
This year will also see the addition of a massage therapist offering up her services for a minimal fee. What better way to cool down after a hard evening of shuckin' and jivin' to the very best in roots music, than to enjoy a well earned massage. I am predicting that this will be a very popular attraction this year at the fest. I think you will know where to find most of the members of Fetish Lane between sets. The movie Field of Dreams spawned the line..."if you build it, they will come". Well guess what...we are hard at work building it!!! Now it's time for you to cancel that picnic, not plan on a weekend of mowing the yard, not paint the trim on the shed, or most importantly not sit around the house wondering why there is never anything to do!!! It's time for you to clean up the pop-up, and dust off that camping gear. This is your call to arms. The Fetish Lane Army is ordering you to drop what you are doing on the 13th & 14th of July to join us at the Wingood Homestead in beautiful Guilford, New York for the Fetish Fest Music and Arts Festival. And while you are at it...tell a friend...tell two friends. Then, make sure they do the same!!! 2007 marks "the Year of the Mule" for Fetish Lane...the Beautiful Mule. We are bigger, as beautiful as ever, and waiting to entertain you!!! Just try us!!! |
